The Walled Garden Helperby is North Yorkshire’s most exclusive wedding destination. This Grade II listed Edwardian garden features our elegant permanent Sperry tent for receptions up to 170 guests, complemented by the licensed stone Cupola for outdoor ceremonies.
Set within historic Helperby Hall grounds, where the Milnes Coates family have been custodians since 1816. We never host more than one wedding at a time, ensuring exclusive attention to your celebration.

The adjoining Gardener’s Cottage offers the perfect retreat for wedding preparations and overnight accommodation. Located just 27 minutes from York and 12 miles from Harrogate, yet nestled in the peaceful village of Helperby, we never host more than one wedding at a time, ensuring your celebration receives our complete attention and exclusive use of the entire grounds.
CEREMONIES
From sun-kissed lawns beneath our neo-classical stone Cupola to the intimate setting of our elegant Sperry tent, every corner of Helperby’s four-acre garden offers beautiful options for your ceremony. Choose an open-air service framed by heritage roses under our licensed Cupola, or exchange vows within our sophisticated tent should weather require—the Registrar comes to you. Afterwards, celebrate under Yorkshire’s big skies without ever leaving the walls that have sheltered this estate for over a century.
On arrival, our purpose-built car park accommodates 70 vehicles within the garden grounds. Our permanent Sperry tent provides elegant reception dining for up to 170 guests, while the open expanse of lawns offers ample space for drinks receptions, live music entertainment, lawn games, and gathering around our fire pit as evening falls.
